    Broadheads

    Hi all,

I've been using NAP thunderhead broadheads for many years and have shot around a dozen goats with them but no deer yet.
I find the accuracy with the broadhead isn't great beyond 20-25 yards but with field tips I can shoot much better groups to 30+yards.

I'm wondering if I should try some differen't broadheads and what others would recommend. I hear a lot about the solid fixed broadheads as opposed to the removeable blade type that I use currently.

What do others use and recommend?

    Cheers,
    Jamie

Hi, broadheads are more prone to go off course than field points so arrow flight have to be perfect from the start( Bow must be set up well), many tips about broadhead tuning on youtube.

Yep need to tune the bow so broadheads and field points hit to same point of aim. Once you have that done should be no issue shooting acurrately to 60yds.
Can be bloody frustrating getting it done though. Yep look on YouTube. Elk shape has just done one or inside out precision also has done one in the past.
Basically fire a broadhead first then fieldpoint. Check to see where they land relative to each other ( may be worth while doing a few times to ensure consistency) then move rest towards broadhead for left to right differences. Move rest away from broadhead for vertical differences.

Nock tune each of your arrows shafts with field points through a paper to see what is the best nock position in relation to your shaft or fletching.
Thunderhead should fly straight. If they don’t now, other broadheads won’t be better ( I m not talking about mechanical here).

Need to tune for any broadhead like others have said, and I could be wrong here but I believe main difference between solid fixed and not can be the sound and strength, should both be accurate if tuned properly.

Bareshaft tune with field points so that your bareshafts group with fletched out to your effective range. If they do, broadheads (fletched) will almost certainly shoot very nicely, grouping with field points, unless they spin badly or are very wide and so may need extra tuning.
