    First animal with the bow

Was lucky to get an easy 10m shot at this guy. Was my first shot at an animal so happy it all went to plan. An Ali Express broadhead doing the damage, it's a rip off of the Montec G5 M3.

Had a miss and a lost animal the same day to keep me down to earth.

That's gotta be a buzz - I got given a bow and after ten weeks I could hit a surf board at 10 metres. I'm left eyed and right handed - and the two don't seem to mix ....................

@SF90 I'm much the same. Left eye dominant and tried a RH bow to start because I favoured RH shooting. Changed to a LH bow and it all came together. It is a lot of fun

    Well done!

It's been many years since I shot some goats with a bow but I still remember the sense of awe that this clever stick and string can turn muscular effort into a speeding arrow that can pass right though an animal!

That's interesting, I tried swapping sides but I never got it beyond feeling well, just so wrong. .......
I did learn to shoot a rifle left handed and I don't really remember it being much trouble - but that was when I was young and handsome, 58 years ago.

I started 'planking' today because I've been crook and have no energy - someone said it was the best exercise for old people. On toes and elbows, body flat straight I did a touch over a minute - and did I have the trembles.
"Work it up you silly bugger."

That actually came as a shock - thought it'd be a doddle.

I’m also right handed-left eye dominant. I just close my left eye. Shoot the bow ok. Not so good for shotgun shooting but fine for rifle shooting with a scope or a compound using a peep sight.

I'm a weird mix shoot a rifle and write LH play all other sports RH. Strongly left eye dominant due to eye issues as a wee one.

Taken up the bow at 49 so no spring chicken myself

I blew my eyeball out of my head with gunpowder - they poked it back in but it never worked after that. Shooting a gun left handed was one change I had to make.

When shooting the bow my right eye is three inches or so away from the line of sight, so the arrow travelled from right to left and I had to compensate my target zero - and ten yards was about it.

I was always pretty average a shotgunning it was later in life I figured out I was left I dominant and right handed , went to the Archery shop to get a bow and they said you must shoot left handed which I couldn’t get my head around ,so walked away , maybe I need to try with peep site and close left eye which is how I shoot a rifle ?

Nice work getting your first animal with the bow Btw

Same here but just persevered and it came good to even take a bull tahr. I'll give them hairy mountaineers another crack very soon.

Good! I bought sling shot to NZ this time, and 7mm steel shots, and rubber bands which the power is 20 pounds. I am going to use for small games, very small games, rabbits and those birds DOC call it flying rats, but it `s very tasty.
    So be it
