Double tapping by my definition is taking one sight picture and pressing the trigger twice. Do not do this. You might get away with it on close targets but its not going to work on a partial target or any moving targets or anything further than about 10 meters. Its a habit you dont want to pick up.
You are already aware that you only need 2 scoring shots on paper so my guess is youre not confident of your hits and are backing them up. Your ability to call your shots will get better the more you shoot and shooting a handgun well isnt the easiest thing to do so hang in there
I dont think this sounds like a "i forgot i only need to shoot the target twice" issue.
Fair point. I agree that you need a sight picture each time. The rhythm of the shots ie 2 instead of 3 is what I was getting at.
