So I shot the CZ 75 sp-01 shadow last night. I was quite surprised at how far back I had to pull the trigger. It started to feel like I had to pull/bend my trigger finger back too far. I can't remember the Glock trigger feeling like I had to pull my finger back to far.
Anyone know how far it is from the back of the grip to where the trigger breaks for the CZ or Glock?
My shadow has a lightened hammer, sear and trigger spring but length of pull for me starts at 2.956" and breaks at 2.376" double action.
Length of pull of .58" till trigger breaks.
I have small hands with sausage fingers and have no dramas with the trigger at all.
Did anyone spend time with you demonstrating grip with that style of pistol?
You only use full travel on your first shot in production anyway.
Practice will have you in the A or on a plate first shot 99% of the time anyway.

I found the same thing with CZs. My Gen4 17 is about 2.6" at trigger break with no backstrap on. The medium back strap will add 2mm and the large 4mm.Quote:

Thanks for the replies @R93 and @Banana that confirms what I thought. No one has demonstrated grip to me, but I've watched a few video's on Youtube and I think I've got it right. Right hand as high as I can into the beavertail with thumbs high on the left. Left hand with wrist cocked forward if that makes sense. I was shooting SA only.
I did shoot the CZ slightly better then the Glock, 24 vs 18 in the black out of 50 at 25m. Just felt like my trigger finger was coming back further with the CZ.
That takes some getting use to. Found my finger coming right off the trigger during recoil. Had to really concentrate on keeping my finger right back on the trigger to allow the trigger to reset.Quote:

Jokes aside. Dry fire, dry fire, dry fire. I've only been shooting pistol for under 2 years but regularly beat everyone in our club, I put it down to all the dry fire practice I put in. Try to find a video of the drill where you pull the trigger, rack the slide, release the trigger slowly until it just resets and repeat. Plenty of guys in our club importing different springs, triggers, short reset disconnects. But can't beat practice
Yep dry fire sounds like the go. Saw one video where a guy had bullet that briefly shone a laser every time you pulled the trigger. Really obvious if he was pulling the shot.
Problem is don't have my B yet so only using club pistols and can only shoot twice a week.
Yeah I played with a laser but didn't find it useful. Unfortunately you don't really start learning until you get holster qualified. Just keep concentrated on getting that grip perfect and don't learn bad habits, I learnt a couple and took heaps of good practise to break it. I found a head camera invaluable to see bad habits
Agree with specweapon. Once holster trained and you have your guns at home, you will be able to practice and practice well.
I don't dry fire bugger all. I rather shoot and I do....a lot.
If I do practice dry, I concentrate on draw, grip and mag changes.
Some people say having a fast draw or speedy mag change isint that useful in IPSC.
Time starts on the buzzer and finishes on the last shot.
Everything required inbetween takes time.
May as well be as fast and smooth as practical in all facets imho.

Yep still got 5 months before I can apply for my B so I'll have a play on different pistols to see what I like. I'll have to see if I can get some one on one lessons from someone at the club too.
Can pistols only be fired at a range?
