    Para gi 1911 45acp

Anyone have experience with one, looking at a 1911 for plinking and possibly the odd wild bunch. Or is there a better option under $1500

Yep I brought one recently very very cheap at a gun show. It had been painted with what looked like beige house paint. I think the person that had it was embarrassed to have it, it was so ugly. Basically gave it away.
Underneath the paint there was a mint barely used 1911. Have now run maybe 500 rounds through it. Been very good. Great trigger. Non adjustable sight is a detractor as it shoots a couple inches low at 15 yards for my preferred sight alignment.

I had a pair of 14/45's, apart from a broken PXT extractor after the first few shots with the Limited, replaced under warranty, they were good reliable runners and became 16/45's with those mag bases. I had a mate mill a flat on the back of the open class ones slide to fit the STS nice and low, it rocked. No problem seeing holes downrange with .45 buckets, and they make PF with comfortable pressures.

10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

No judgement from me, I'd encourage them to paint lots of things. I can even supply a list of things I'd like painted. That way I can buy them for pennies on the dollar, spend an evening getting rid of the paint and have some very cheap toys afterwards...

Nothing stopping you putting adjustable sights on them though. Standard dovetail slots.
