    Tigr 7,62x54R rifles

    Hi everyone,

Republic Arms Ltd, an exclusive official dealer of Kalashnikov Group in New Zealand, offers firearms for hunting and sport, based on the legendary Kalashnikov assault rifle. We offer sales direct to the public at very competitive prices. Republic Arms Ltd also provides support and service/maintenance for Kalashnikov Group products.

Today we'd like to present you Tigr rifle, a civilian version of a world-known semi-automatic sniper rifle - Dragunov SVD, which was developed in 1963 as the main sniper rifle for Soviet army and been in service ever since, used by more than 35 countries. It is an excellent hunting weapon with excellent reputation for reliability and durability.

Tigr is a semi-auto (versions with manual reload also available) rifle with a short-stroke gas-piston system. It has a manual, two-position gas regulator and is extremely reliable in all conditions. The rifle's receiver is milled to provide additional accuracy and torsional strength. It bears a number of similarities to the AK receiver, such as the large dust cover, iron sights and lever safety selector, but these similarities are primarily cosmetic in nature. The rifle is fed from a detachable double-stack box magazine.

The bore is chrome-lined to increase corrosion resistance, and features 4 right-hand grooves.
The rifle features adjustable iron sights and scope mount on the left side of the receiver. It has a polymer handguard and a skeletonized polymer thumbhole stock equipped with a detachable cheek rest.

Additional info, pictures and price can be found on Republic Arms Ltd official website.

Questioning the legality of these on an A cat license as they have a flash hider. Are you supplying them without the one piece front sight/flash hider or are you making people aware this is an E cat weapon?

Sometimes it pays to ask these questions. I have a Tigr, and it is A cat. These aren't...
Have you got a problem with my query?

OK, just to clear this up - these are A Category Firearms - they are imported under Police Permit as A Category, inspected and passed by Rob Ngamoki, Police Armourer as A Category and are now sold to the public as A Category Firearms.
They do not have a Flash Eliminator - they have a Muzzle Break.
The action is manual - it is a straight pull bolt action - NOT semiautomatic. The action is very quick and smooth.
    Magazines are 10 round capacity.

These can be purchased with a standard Firearms License and without the need for a E Category compliant safe.

Huh? Your sales pitch above says semi auto, 5 round capacity. I'm not trying to make a problem where there isn't one, but I know of a couple of people who may be keen to purchase andwant to be on the right side of the law. Mine had to be supplied without the 1 piece front sight/flash suppressor (horizontal slots) and was fitted with the "aftermarket" ( but still Izhmash) front sight.

So this is a single shot straight pull bolt action. Yet in the description on your site, says it has a short stroke gas piston system (Tigr is a bolt action rifle with a short-stroke gas-piston system. It has a manual, two-position gas regulator )

This would suggest it is a semi auto rifle. Why have a gas piston system on a bolt action.

Like peril, I am not trying to cause issues, its just strange having some parts saying it is a bolt action, and then saying it uses a semi auto gas system.

    Just curious.

Could it be the Gas system been "deactivated" so its built as a semi but you have to use it as a straight pull bolt?

    What do they shoot like?

These are built by the factory as straight pull with no gas system for the UK market, would have thought a standard Semi with 5 rnd mag was A Cat though..

That may be the case but why are they advertised as a single shot that operates with a short stroke gas system. The advert says it has a 7 shot mag yet the picture says it comes with a 10 shot mag.

Maybe the description should be more accurate.

It says in once it's a singleshot aand then goes on abot the gas system. I thought it was a semi by the description.

Says here that both semi and manual versions are available.... however if you look at the picture the gas system is not connected to the barrel....

Buggered if i'm paying $2800 for a bolt action version...

    Slightly confusing!
