Dave Asher

A quite unassuming guy who has done more to record on film our hunting history has passed after illness. Dave founded South Coast Productions from his home in Riverton. https://videosouth.com/ Together with Dave McCarlie he produced a huge array of DVDs ranging from "Wapiti" "The Wapiti War" "Jack McKenzie Wapiti Hunter" to aerial recovery and live capture, "The Venison Hunters" "The Last Great Adventure" "The Whitetail Deer of Stewart Island" to name a few as well as numerous diverse subjects such as Fiordland Fishermen,Titi Islands, Whitebaiters and numerous other back country tales as well as military history. One of our treasures has gone.

Never knew him but have watched a couple of those dvds, really enjoyed his content. RIP.

RIP Dave, a life well run. Bloody good bloke with the most amazing talents (many of them, most kept pretty quiet).

Very sad. Bought all his vids . We travelled to SI in 2007 and went out to Riverton and met him and his wife. Very talented bugger. They produced top rate vids of that era. Remember seeing the launch of their first vid on TV1.

Teamed up with the two Daves to help capture footage of the Whitetail video and went on to help Dave A with a couple of other vids. Great guy and cameraman.RIP.
