Im over 65 and still go to work 5 days a week.

Im not ready to flag it yet - just work a bit smarter - like " Im not lifting that when theres two young fit guys standing there watching " ....

Ha. I'll be working up to the day I'm in the ground the way I'm going.
Retiring at 65 will only happen if I win lotto or I move somewhere way cheaper than NZ

Having had a super scheme going since 1980 makes all the difference - plus personal savings. Look forward to retiring soon to go into the hills when I want. Plan your future knowing there are likely a few hiccups along the way. Continued employment is the key!

Mate is a mechanic on a fishing boat,works 3 months and gets $150k. His mechanic experience prior was working in a fucking tyre shop.

Yeah - says he stuck in limbo with bloody ACC... I can't recommend highly enough the continued employment thing, it's much less stressful.

Retirement takes prior training by ensuring that you have a full life outside work long before retirement. I took the best part of a decade to progress from full time to not working at all. I met a couple of over-retirement-age truck drivers working out of Masterton 3 days a week driving concrete trucks - they reckoned it was great to be earning and have the pension and a 4 day weekend too - sounds like a nice balance

Im nearly 76 and fit a day or sometimes 2 of work in a week. Pads out the retirement funds and keeps me current and my mind active. Off to the UK for 5 weeks in a few days. I'm gagging to get home already and I haven't left yet :)
