I have twice now had a couple of stuck baffles. Just get some masking tape and tape the baffles together either side of the stuck one to allow a better grip. (no tools)

I'll second the vote on Stoney creek micro tough. They are the longest lasting a most comfortable pants I own. You can buy them from Farmlands in a brown colour if you don't like the bayleaf.
