Anything with 4x or less is fine for me in bush. Currently have 2-7x on BA13 308, 3-9x on my main goat gun 223. 4x on my old faithful 308. Never had a problem in tight stuff but I also shoot both...

X3 works fine for me. Shot a pig on the run yesterday in the bush. If you already have the x2 then you don't really have a problem, you can put it on with no extra cost when ever you like.

1.25-4 vx-r. Normally set to about 2, 3 as an absolute max. Should be able to pick up deer the first time you raise your rifle up. If you have magnification set too high and 'lose' the deer through...

My 223 and 270 both have 3-9s on them. 3 is probably a bit high for close tight bush work and 9 can be lacking on wallabies at 300m, but it's what I've got and works for me. I'd like a bit more top...

2-12 or 2-10. Extra mag at top end very handy when you need to take a longer shot.

Rifles are just fussy c**ts of things. Sometimes its easy sometimes its not, what might work well for one rifle wont work well in the next. One of my creedmoors shoots the 143 eldx incredibly...

I thought I’d share my experience with a BLR 81 Takedown .308 I’m nearly 60, but still quite good with scoped rifles, but all the rifles I have are not ideal bush stalkers, so I thought I’d change...

7mm tragic liked post by Barry the hunter On thread : Half cock or safety
I agree - when I was doing bush hunting every fine day working I always carried my rifle on half cock and watched where my hand was - if one was not ready to shoot very quickly then one would have...

I am wary of safetys. Its just more fool proof not putting a round in the chamber unless your going to shoot. Had a rifle go of on me once when I disengaged the safety. Had a young guy with me at the...

Some of you are still confusing half open bolt with half cock: they are 2 completely different scenarios. A half open bolt is when the cartridge is half way into the chamber, so the bolt needs to...
