Bagheera liked post by 7mmsaum On thread : Is the new 7mm PRC a lemon ?
There are some benefits but I’d only be interested in a 7mm/300 PRC The 2.580 long case of the 300 makes the most of the whole idea rather than the 2.280 length of the 7mm PRC

You should be able to scare a few goats in Kaikōura. Just look on the doc website and pick a block.

Bagheera liked post by Allizdog On thread : Leupold CDS scope Qn about turret.
Given the style of hunting you mention you do mostly, you should have ample time to check the turret hasn't moved while you are waiting. Make it a habit when you get to your ambush spot.

Bagheera liked post by gimp On thread : calculator able to predict projectile pass height over variuis distances
An accurate zero is important if you aim to make first round hits on targets at longer ranges as frequently as possible. Zeroing is simply having a clear understanding of where your point of...

    1. 91 metres is about 100 yards. 2. It appears that you are wanting to shoot at 91m, to check that your adjustment for a 600m shot is correct. There are 2 parts to this: a) has the scope...

247304 Not perfect and will vary a little for temperature ( air density ) altitude and rifles but this will give you a pretty good starting point and all you need.

Or just use it at 10x where it's calibrated for, bit yes u right it does take practice to get to know your gear. Dedicated marksman in army was on range 3 -5 x a week

Some great responses here gents, thank you. We've decided on a .22LR to start and looking at Tikka T1X (current preference, since the follow up rifle will likely be a T3X) or CZ 457 with a good scope...
