I'm going to respectfully disagree. Cannot get a more simple design than a single shot break barrel. Not much to go wrong. What newbie uses reloads anyway?

Bergara are very good if somewhat heavy. A small package even when fully assembled. A 1:8 twist .308 16" barrel could be my one rifle to rule them all. Your requirements may differ.

I break down and vac pac all my meat as soon as it gets home. It then sits in the fridge for a week or so before freezing. Next to no waste

They wander all over the shop if undisturbed. Seems to be related to hunting pressure and where the hinds are hanging out.
