    7 rem mag is the way to go. But really look at what ammo/projectiles are available at the moment. You will need to practice a bit to get proficient to 500m.

    you have said longer range so a Sako finn lite 2 or a Fierce in 7mm rem mag - neither rifle will need any special work to shoot well - scope if you are not to techo a Leupold Vari X 5 - CDS...
