   There’s a yard in ChCh that deals in imported hardwoods. I’ve bought US red oak from them in the past and very good to deal with Their name escapes me atm sorry

   The big issues with getting it "wet" are you're in for at least three years drying before you can think of using it, and even then, there's a bit of luck as to whether it's gonna be suitable.
