    A piece of fiber cement sheet, problem solved for this. A little bit of an air gap underneath and no drama.

    Just be aware some of those burners (the big ol gas one especially) need to be on a heatproof surface - as my mate found out the hard way.

    Electric for low and slow. Gas for everything else. Also get some jet cleaners, to ream the jets out a bit, so you get the flame to really get hot....
