crewe2 liked post by XR500 On thread : Hanging Carcass without chiller
Have never heard of that one? But we usually wait until July to find the coldest part of Winter, and hang up on the southern side of the house under our very large eves. Use several large bed...

crewe2 liked post by No good names left On thread : To reload or not reload?
I don't shoot enough to even consider reloading but I'd liken it to brewing your own beer, Much cheaper but you just end up drinking more and not saving anything. Not that that's a bad thing in...

crewe2 liked post by norsk On thread : Sako 30-06. What's it worth?
I think there are a lot of old blokes still clinging to the concept that their Mauser/ Mannlicher/Sako is worth big bucks. That's not the case any longer and they will go to their graves still...

crewe2 liked post by Sakoswarosorted On thread : Torque specs for tikka rings?? Scope sliding backwards
You’ve actually got to do tikka rings up pretty tight, I normally use a 1” socket set with a 1 meter cheater bar and use my foot to nip it up about three turns past tight, when the tube changes shape...

Over the roar period i let a lot of animals go , both hinds and stags as i was looking for a decent stag. Of course i never seen a decent stag so when out today in a local spot in the southern...

So I finally got my first Doc land animal on the deck. It’s taken A LOT of leg work but every time I’ve been out I’ve added to the knowledge bank and of course I’ve seen some pretty stunning country....

crewe2 liked post by Oldbloke On thread : Hunting in astorm ,is it worth it
I used to hunt in just about any weather. Not any more. I'm a fine weather hunter now. I go to enjoy the hunt, not feel miserable. If I shoot something it's a bonus. Results have not changed much.

This year my roar plan was to head down into Fiordland National Park over the Easter break for 4 days of hunting with my son and anotuer forum member and two of his kids. Plenty of prep work involved...

crewe2 liked post by Hunter_Nick On thread : Done some more checkering
When you get some carbide tools, make sure you get a 75 deg cutter. Use that for the border around the outside, looks a lot neater than a 90 deg. You’ll see what I mean when you see it. Also, get...

So this trip didn't happen too long after my last outing. I decided to camp the night on the tops in the Lewis Pass again. Instead of thinking 'easy access' I tried to get off the beaten path a bit...
