As far as I know the road from Napier highway t/o right throughto Minginui is public and open 24/7, or should be. It parallels the Waipunga stream almost to Matea / Kaingaroa boundary tgen jouns...

There is a bridge accross the waipunga that you can drive accross. This road is good for access into Southern Whirinaki. Not sure about pohukura road but there is a gated road just after the bridge...

Cactus huntaway and scabbard, great setup! Can fly camp for a couple of nights in summer and fit two boned out reds in it. Small enough to not be a PITA while stalking but big enough .
