   you can load 308 up to 240 (if the slugs are still available) they hit bloody hard but drop faster than a brides knickers

   That's the awful truth: there are youtube vids now of guys using airguns to kill deer and I've also seen dudes using a shotgun sabot shot to kill at 300y. Tis possible. So it lends to the theory...
