Both eyes open here although I didn't start doing it till my late teens. Like others have said it keeps the perifial vision in operation and helps to ensure that your "firing zone" remains clear...

you can put obstruction on side of your scope so offside eye is blocked out from seeing....a pair of sunnies with paper dot or smear of grease right in line with where offside eye is looking works...

Full length first time and once the brass has been fired in my rifle I neck size. Don't notice a change in performance between the two but have been told neck sizing prolongs brass life.
