    Fully agree, as ethical hunters we owe it to our quarry to ensure as quick and painless death as possible. Actively hunting medium game with rimfire calibres is completely irresponsible in my view.

    I'm not experienced but from what I've read on here most of the guys who are on here, I think, will say it's definitely worth trying. If you can teach it to heel properly and it's not gunshy then...

    Anythings possible. I reckon you could train to sniff deer. Maybe next deer you shot get the ears or a bit of skin hide around the place and get him to sniff it out?
