For a replacement ball bearing inside the cocking handle (on top of the spring) would a no.3 ( or appropriate size!) steel shot do?

Thank you once again No.3, those pics are gold! I suspect the ball bearing from the cocking handle has gone missing when the person who dismantled things removed the handle. I’ll investigate...
