608 yards is my standard practice distance and I try to do that a lot...and its probably about as far as I would shoot at an animal because I find it hard to shoot past what I know works......

Agree...for me it's about recoil control as well...comfortably holding the stock into my shoulder and still having a relaxed trigger finger.
