I don't have a huge problem with the rangefinder acting as it does personally, as my shooting is unlikely to ever go beyond 600 on game. Would be a nice feature to have when gong shooting though. ...

buy one of the PLB's rather than a fully fledged EPIRB and attach it to your life jacket when you are boating (with clip and also lanyard) and round your neck when hunting. Packs can be ripped off...

I use one of those waterproof anoraks that folds into its own pocket, it has a lanyard with a clip that i hook on my back belt loop. Don't even notice it there after a while but ready and accessible....
