Break barrel is easier to load, lever often a bit more accurate. My favourite is a little multi-pump copy of a Sharpe Innova. Fiddly to load but accurate and quiet to shoot.

+1 if you are only interested in such short distances. Cans are good to start with but quickly go for bottle caps. Forget the bottles.
