    Hunting (even on my own) I do the 1/2 open bolt trick. See an animal and it's easy to quietly close the bolt the rest of the way. Never carry that way until I'm in the actual hunting area though....

    I have cut plenty to 20" and as short as 18". Drops factory ammo velocity down to about 24" creedmoor speeds but you can rake much of it back if you hand load with a faster burning powder.

    mates prc runs at 19", it throws 140g bt @ 2997fps. Kills every time. load developed and verified out to 850m, furtherest instant drop is around 580m at present.

    I have cut a Bergara mountain 6.5 prc to 20” the other day and fitted a Dpt on it. Very well balanced . Specially with the carbon factory stock which is of really good quality.

    Remember, even with a suppressor hearing protection is still needed with that class of cartridge, so perhaps running it without the suppressor and hanging some ear plugs from your hat might be worth...
