That makes sense now that you mention it, though I hadn't thought about it before - the wind is acting on the bullet over its flight time across the full travelled distance.

Nothing wrong with the Weavers IMO, I have a v9 on my 308 and have shot wallabies out to 300+ with it. I think some people tend to exaggerate how much you need to spend on gear for normal...

The example we were given in the course was that down might not be a safe direction (ie if you're upstairs), so giving down as the answer was wrong because you were making assumptions.

I dunno, you might be going hunting somewhere that is far enough away from home that you need to refuel on the way. Not much choice about stopping at a petrol station then is there.
