Yeah, nah I wouldn't own a 10+ year old 4.2d non turbo these days unless I was never going to tow. Even then its borderline. My LWB TD42+t with 33"s and a 2" lift uses less gas then my low mileage...

Yes the manuals are lower geared in top, makes them much much more driveable IMO especially in the turbo, standard tires etc auto should be doin 2400rpm locked up in top (4th) manual 2750rpm around...
