It has noticeably more noise and recoil than some other options, without a real advantage to justify it. Nothing wrong with the way it kills animals, its just that more efficient options will kill...

One of the big advantages of down for insulation is the warmth/weight ratio, I don't know how possum fur compares in that regard but would be interesting to find out.

Why would police records be relevant to insurance if there is no legal authority for them to require and keep that information? The only think that should affect that hyopthetical insurance claim...

I had a gunshop mount a scope way too far forward for me once (before I had learnt to mount them myself). I asked the guy and he insisted it was right, not knowing better I said ok and went off home....

Yip, and if they won't let you then go somewhere else and get better service. How a gun fits you and feels to you personally is a big part of the decision, I would definitely advise against...
