so a .223 would do it with ease and no need to dial.... as would the 17s see thats why my .22lr gets little use,the .223 is just so good and fun to use....and for walk around with the dog,the...

I've always used nylon brushes when using copper cutting solutions as brass brushes I believe taint and give false indication of copper being present and you could spend all bloody night cleaning.

Hermitage liked post by Makros On thread : What to do with .22 BRNO barrel?
Can the corrosion be the cause of the inaccuracy. Yes. Is it? Who knows, but if the corrosion turned up and then it stopped shooting accurately I think you have your answer. Can it be rebarrelled...

Hermitage liked post by Love_ducks On thread : Range finder - Delta RF2000
Another review if you like of the Delta RF2000 since I couldn't find much on them when I got one. So far it seems like an awesome little unit, it will range pretty much any surface quick and...

Hermitage liked post by Marty Henry On thread : Anyone still using the 220 swift
Well I have rings and decided a period "correct" vx1 3-9 seeing the rifle was made in 1990. It's a shooter, 3 rounds to zero then 5 into 3/4 in at 100 yds. True to form someone always tries to...

one of those cartridges that made sense back in the day for varminting before rangefinders, and common dialing of scopes . . . now we have high BC heavier longer bullets that take critters at what...

Hermitage liked post by thejavelin On thread : Advice on barrel shortening and crown
Lapping compound or something like Chemico - brass door hinge pin in a drill. I've used that at a pinch to tidy up a rough crown on a .22 What I did note is that you cannot just put the pin head...

Hermitage liked post by gundoc On thread : Advice on barrel shortening and crown
The cut-off saw is OK then the barrel needs to be carefully filed square from all sides. Do not use grinding stones for the crown! It should be cut with a proper tool or lapped with a ball on a rod...

Hermitage liked post by Mooseman On thread : .22 Hollow Point not expanding
I think you will find that at the range you are using them the speed has dropped off a fair bit which certainly wouldn't help with expansion. I found at normal sub sonic ranges the USA made subs...

Hermitage liked post by longshot On thread : .22 Hollow Point not expanding
If you have a press you could try flaring the hollow point, you would need to make up a flaring die probably out of an obsolete die and there would be a bit of trial and error involved in not just...

I used to open up the Winchester Bushman HV ammo as it had poor hollows. I used the tip of a pocket knife and and it worked well, a lot more expansion.
