My experience is that the standard 6.5 chamberings can be slow killers at or over 400 yards. With a short barrel, more so. If I was often shooting 300 - 600 yds I would want something with a bit more...

In our younger days we shot hundreds of Goats down Awakino and found them ok so long as you were close no more than 50 odd yards and hit them in the head or neck. Body shots like lungs and heart...
