I use a 4 cup stove top with pre-ground beans in a ziplock (not ideal but works for a couple of days). Stash the ground beans in the pot for transit etc. Stove top takes up minimal space at camp...

Kiwi fruit will do a good job too - the acidity/enzymes helps break down the meat. The same method can be used in low n slow smoking, when cooking briskets etc.
