   I always have a current permit for the entire North Island. So easy to get it and print it these days compared to years ago. Hunting on DoC land without one is illegal. Doing so is just dumb arsed.

    Nothing wrong with a 303. Was a true deer slayer in it's time. However if money is not an issue then by all means upgrade to a new rifle. I will not get into the "what rifle/what caliber is best"...

    If you are climbing a hill stop before you go over the top and control your breathing. Hard to keep a deer in the scope when you have just blown your arse out If I start to sweat, I slow down.
