I always have a current permit for the entire North Island. So easy to get it and print it these days compared to years ago. Hunting on DoC land without one is illegal. Doing so is just dumb arsed.

In sika country, when you stop for a break and there are two of you, sit well apart or back to back...if on your own, then make sure when you are about to stand up that your rifle is in both hands...
