To be frank the older scopes aren’t anywhere near as waterproof, and obviously the coatings nowhere as good as more recently. My humble opinion- the Leupy gloss VX 1s eg 3-9x etc are best compromise...

143 grain ELD-X, Lapua Brass and Reloader 22 works brilliantly for me. I agree with Tahr it should be my go to caliber too as it does everything plus more than my 308, 7x57 and 25/06.

If you can't get Lapua brass Norma is pretty good in the 6.5x55. Its softer but you aren't running high pressures anyway. Its what I use now in my one.
