   In the 1850s this was figured out by a bloke called green hill who came up with a formula to calculate the twist rate needed for any bullet length or alternately the longest bullet that will work...

   Phthalates are believed to be associated with reproductive defects in humans and there's quite a bit of evidence to support that. It's effectively non volatile so absorption is via skin contact etc...

    But it's 99 years old! Everyone knows old cartridges are no good. Look at the 6.5x55, 7x57, 3006, 303, 8x57, 375 H&H plus a heap more. Absolute rubbish .

    Lead cast projectiles and for that matter shot pellets pose virtually no risk I bet, simply because they don't disintegrate on impact. Even rifle cup n core bullets at moderate velocity rarely shed...
