If your hearts set on a mini 14 try to get one in 7.62x39 slight overkill on posssums but steps up easily to reds if you need to. As has been said before overkill is underrated.

Bit of a laugh though starting with a 222 magnum necking it down to 204, then necking it back up to 223. And I would prefer to use ammo I can get anywhere. One trip south when we flew down my...

If thinking of a new rifle Id seriously consider 762x39 or 6.5 grendel the little ruger ranches look quite capable.

He should be fine using 45/70 cases the 90 was just a little longer thats all in a straight case it makes no real difference think firing 2 3/4 in shottie shells in a 3 1/2 in chamber.

Im intrigued, Ive occasionally shot out to 150, and would like to do more with my 22s. Did you do a drop chart or are your figures ballistic app based?

Classic speedy fella that all right but it was designed for 50 to 55 grain projectiles and from what Ive read is pretty much stuck with that size. The 22 250 on the other hand actually started out as...

Its funny how the 222 magnum bombed only to come back in a tighter top and be everyones darling. I think a 1:9 or 8 twist 22 250 will be where I go, thanks of for the info rossi.45

308 is the only decent cal for one and as smiddy says forget chasing fps and go heavy you want it to be able to romp through bushes, twigs and foliage if need be without shredding itself on a flower....
