A little instability can be a good thing as energy transfer is improved if the bullet tumbles, ive found that unless it hits bone even pure lead hardly expands, so i hollow point a lot of my cast...

If you are worried about heat warping, heat the whole piece in an oven, 50-60 deg C will plasticise most quickset epoxies.
