Shot a chamois front on, ( 308, 165grn Lapua) at about 15 yards. Chamois merely hunched up, turned right and started to trot off. A second shot (bless the speed of a lever action!) sideways...

In September I shot a red spiker front on from about 15-20m, it turned and ran. No blood that I could see, though it was raining at the time, which also made it hard to see which tracks were fresh....

I believe the problem with a front on chest shot is not hitting bone. This means 2 things. less energy transferred into the animal and less damage from bone fragments. In that situation it's better...

Cool. Having Bea trail a long lead of thin rope that you can stand on or grab might help with the ranging issue. Have a command that goes with the tug like "steady". I used "steady" and clicked my...

Take the positives where you can, and it's not the only good news today.

The other option is that the shot was not actually fully front on and the projectile has gone between the front leg and ribcage and has not actually entered the chest cavity at all.

Photos should be self-explanatory. Material for sleeve holding front pole was ‘reusing’ the original bag for the pole from memory. The second pole was an aluminium KIWI CAMPING REPLACEMENT TENT POLE...

Found my info. 49gr with 140 BT gave great accuracy and around 2900fps in a Viscount belonging to a mate. I've yet to load for mine & check it's liking. Sent from my SM-S906E using Tapatalk
