    had a pistol holo green dot on the mighty 45/70 with no issues and currently have a cheap nasty $40 trade me holo red dot on my 12ga , which has been on there for several years also with no issue .

    Might not be much help but I've used one on a semi with 3 1/2 inch magnum loads which rattle you pretty well and it survived 25 plus rounds goose shooting better than my shoulder.

    Get your kid a pocket size book of native trees, I did this for my boys and they love looking for and identifying trees and bushes. You can also get pocket sized books of native birds.
