   So just managed to get casings from a local butcher on the plastic insert so ready to sausage up today. Casings in one piece not lots of little pieces, so much easier.

   Just use a stock 7mm08, 260 or 6.5 Creedmoor, if you want to stick with a short action. Or as you said just stick with the 308 and work up a decent load for it.
