   First I'd check that the eye relief was ok at that position, and then i would mitre off the rear corner of the base of the ring. Its well hidden under there and not difficult to make a very neat job...

   I know of a deer that was gutted with a sharpened teaspoon, but the guy that did that now has something a bit better. If you want a nice knife, and the rent/mortgage is paid up, please yourself.
