    Dont know about 'the best route to cross' but there was a much safer crossing upstream. I would never never ever cross at the top of a rapid / gut where the gradient drops and the water velocity...

    By my prior post I only meant for you (or really the OP) to not feel guilty for shooting a hind, especially one that has raised a small fawn. There are enough hinds around now that we can shoot them...

    Shoot hinds up until say 1 Nov. If you shot the same in April it would still be pregnant. An rising 2yr hind would be perfect right now as would last years fawn which is not quite a yearling or spiker
