It was sadly inevitable that it would be closed up eventually - the neighbouring properties have endless problems with damage to fences, poaching, trespassing; there is shit left everywhere; there is...

Actually the ranger sounds quite reasonable, shooting is still allowed but as usual its twats that have drawn attention to the situation. You had permits so well done, I also suspect you policed...

Delete if not allowed. Apologies if so. Trying to garnish some community support for Canterbury district outdoor rifle shooters. As quite few keen target shooters know, Lake Lyndon (Near...

There's a rifle sitting in the window on display at sports Shop in The Anau, barrel had blown up on it, from memory the story behind it was that it was fired after some time in the Fiordland bush and...

Nearly always tape muzzle or suppressor to keep crap out, have always just shot through it too. A piece of tape doesn't bother the mighty .270

An interesting subject, which reminded me of a 1945 D Day invasion of France scenario. The Yanks had always decried the "Limeys" as they were prone to call them because of a habit of bunking down...

Yep, if you don't tape the barrel up the ball rolls out the end when ya lower the rifle :) The only time it "helped" was when I was walking out along a track a while back with my 6.5mm Mauser. Was...

Yup, always have and always will. Tape normal barrel, suppressors and muzzle brakes. Keeps the rain out, and the debris. Things like dirt, sticks and even snow don't belong up there

With a suppressor, no. Without one I always tape the muzzle. It not only stops water but if you poke the barrel into the ground in a fall it stops it getting clogged with dirt. Also stops loose...

It would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison of it with say a 2X at 300-400yds on cattle or deer.

Theoretically it should be as the bore does spring open. I don't know how much, but you can feel the difference when sliding a lubricated lead slug in the bore. I don't lap most barrels I work on....

I have been working on some other projects, but am now back onto this. I needed to thread the muzzle before permanently installing it to the barrel adaptor as I would not be able to hold it in the...
