For NZ the 308 as the best all rounder, ammo availability etc but my favourite cartridge is the mighty 7x57 of which my personal custom rifle will be chambered in.

10 twist will stabilise the lrab just fine. With the right powder you'd get a lot more than 2900fps out of it also. I used to use the lrab exclusively in my 19" barrel 270win and pushed them at 2850...
