Because it's a rem 700 I'd talk to Mitch maxberry He is really good and target shot with them so would know what else would be worth doing with it

Acacia is another one to look out for. I made a stock out of some I cut from a tree. Cut into a rough blank then left by fire for the winter. Never cracked and hasn't moved at all since.

Self confessed Remington slut here. I would have 7-9 nine of them. Mostly older A, B or C series actions with custom tubes but also have a couple of Ss BDL models from last 10 years with factory...

They along with the BDL are the best of the Remington's in my view, I've got a CDL stainless in 6mm Remington, nicely balanced accurate rifle, this is from a Sako, Winchester M70 fan.
