There may wel be some great 10/22s out their. I am yet to se one that is still standard but I am assured by many that they exist. Proof for me as the ones who insist there are great ones out there...

Got a Marlin XS7 .223 for free. Shoots great with everything. Have killed goats at 350m and steel at 500m. Cant complain.

IIRC the Marlin 60 has outsold it about 2 to 1 over the years. Probably because its reliable too, but you don't need to double the cost of the rifle with aftermarket parts to make it accurate. ;)

I guess everyone has different expectations - I wouldn't be happy with a rifle that groups 2" at 50m. My 22s are usually around 0.5-0.75" at that distance, and I expect a more consistent target...
