Eat Meater liked post by Pommy On thread : 300 PRC thoughts for a new guy
As a hunting round, it will be the same as a 300 Win Mag (which has killed millions of deer big and small, at short range and at long range). Exactly which 30cal magnum it is that sends the 180+...

Are you sure it's not got more to do with the barrel heating up rather than the suppressor? An overbarrel will insulate the end of the barrel and keep it hotter for longer as well.

Both have their merits. Slow and heavy sure smashes stuff and penetrates well. And often they have good BC's which helps retain the velocity. Fast and light tends to fragment a lot more and leads...

It's got a similar amount of powder as a WSM, and uses the same magnum bolt face. The amount of gas and pressure at the muzzle will be getting up there so I would consider it to be one, yes. I use...

Most instructions with any die set will tell you to screw down the die until it touches the shell holder + a bit more, 1/4 or 1/2 turn. That takes up all the mechanical play in the press linkages...

    There's calculators online for working stuff like this out. With two 6lb rifles... 123gr @ 2500ft/s = 10.4ft/lb force @ 10.5ft/s velocity. 120gr @ 3000ft/s = 18ft/lb force @ 14ft/s velocity. ...

Yeah you definitely want to check the neck thickness on those. The new neck is going to be made from a lot of the old shoulder material of the 28N and that could be a fair bit thicker than the...

With 160's I was able to get 2750 using Reloder 16 from a 20" barrel. With ADI powder, a 165gr bullet, and a shorter barrel, I echo what everyone else is saying: those speeds sound about right. ...
