Run mine on top of winch bar it’s a good spot to have it as far as providing good light and no reflections off anything which often happens if they’re mounted on top of a bull bar or the roof etc but...

wear the best possible earmuffs, much of a flinch is "in your head" and reducing the noise of the shot helps considerably. And shoot your 22 rf a lot.
