Apparently HnF are dumping the B14R rem 700 22lr steel barrel at $999. A customer picked one up from our local There was another one in Palmerston North HF. Thats way below cost price.

RacksandRods The Leders tan kit comes with a tanning lube. Use that prior to breaking. It's really good stuff. I wouldn't stuff about with anything else. Re the thickness, you really need to thin it...

I'd do what Billbob suggests and sand down until its as thin as paper, then apply the lube/oil

Others who have used that tanning system will know better. I would take an orbital sander to it and thin any thick spots and make it uniform as possible and then try more oil and breaking

Thanks mate I've done a few now and have found a cheap water blaster is the best and quickest way to clean them up, if you don't mind snotty sinew flying all over the place

I've been interested in the "higher end" Remmy 22s for at least 20 years and I've not seen a 40x based 22 for sale in NZ. The 541s come up occasionally but that's about it as far as I can tell . . ....
