    +1 for the PLB, even when you don’t use it, it is useful, gives you a few less things to worry about so you can concentrate on hunting. My partner and I have one each, neither has ever been used...

    If you are bringing it into the country you are importing it, no matter how or why you are bringing it in. For a rifle you would need an export permit from the States and an import permit from NZ

    I've heard the permits aren't hard to get, F&G is pretty reasonable. Or wait till May, they have a 3 month season. Last year 5 a day was bag limit.
