Under the first-shot-is-your-best-shot the one up the spout doesn't need to be a flat nose...just need to know where it shoots compared to the others.

Only bit of schooling I can offer is to NOT pull a lever action apart. Unless you know what your doing. Pulled apart my old Winchester 88, right down to every last screw. Took 2 of us a whole day...

Russian 22. liked post by Tahr On thread : what makes a true hunter?
I think that the qualities of a true hunter are intrinsic rather than extrinsic. Its the stuff you can't see that is important. Empathy for the quarry - you won't have that if you don't have it...

Russian 22. liked post by Chazzwazzer On thread : what makes a true hunter?
It's almost impossible to define, everyone has an opinion on it. I got admonished by a Kiwi "hunter" because my history of hunting is shooting pigs and foxes on the Hay Plains in NSW - pure pest...

Russian 22. liked post by Cordite On thread : No hunting under level 3
"NZ First MP Shane Jones said he had been "plastered" by people in the Far North wanting to fish and hunt, a call he supported." "I have no formal responsibility, other than as a Cabinet minister...

Russian 22. liked post by duckdog On thread : Auckland Pheasants
Topuni Forest at Wellsford has been good hunting for pheasants in the past. Access permits are issued through the Fish & Game Northland office.

It's an artificial construct with no absolute answer

A true hunter? Only you can answer that question and fuck what anybody else thinks.

Russian 22. liked post by On thread : what makes a true hunter?
i think a true hunter is a combination of a few things some of these would be a genuine interest in hunting not just out there for some pics to put on social media respect for the animal and the...

Russian 22. liked post by ebf On thread : Barrel Fluting - existing barrel
Barrel fluting really does not save you a lot of weight. Think 100-200 grams... You could easily save that much weight by going to a lighter scope, with ZERO impact on harmonics... If you do...

Russian 22. liked post by ebf On thread : Military Surplus Gear
Surplus gear is pretty average in my book. You'd be much better off waiting for the inevitable sale at Macpac, and buying 1-year old technology at low prices compared to 30 year old technology at...

Russian 22. liked post by Beavis On thread : Sig sauer cross
The concept with their new 277 based cartridges is to replace both 556 and 308 with an intermediate cartridge capable of fulfilling the role of both.

Russian 22. liked post by Boaraxa On thread : Why do people use a guide?
Oh ffs , this thread doesn't need another argument of public vs paid , if someone wants to pay for a hunt or to shoot a trophy good on them who gives a flying fuck there's so many different people...

Russian 22. liked post by Yesmate On thread : Why do people use a guide?
Results is the answer. Like anything in life it takes a lot of practice/experience to get good at something and even then its probably only a 50% success rate for public land hunts. Id say half the...

This would be part of the reason I have used them in the past. And it has a few other things in its favour for me. I work shift work so my days off almost never line up with anyone else I know and...
